Leeds rivals West Ham handed big injury lift as Nuno hopeful on five-man return | OneFootball

West Ham, Leeds United’s relegation rivals, could be boosted by Crysencio Summerville’s return for the seven-game run-in, with several others nearing fitness.

The Athletic reports that West Ham have submitted a complaint to FIFA over Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s late return from international duty.

Summerville suffered a calf injury in March during his side’s FA Cup fifth-round win over Brentford. He missed a month, including last weekend’s quarter-final loss to former club Leeds, plus two league games in which West Ham took one point and scored once. Before the setback he had seven goals in 11 across all competitions.

Nuno Espirito Santo said Summerville, Jean-Clair Todibo and Callum Wilson are improving and will be assessed, with hope they could be available for Wolves at home on Friday. Dinos Mavropanos has cleared concussion protocol. Wan-Bissaka has rejoined training, while others are recovering from Sunday’s extra-time defeat.

Todibo also missed that FA Cup tie through injury. Wan-Bissaka had been in DR Congo celebrating World Cup qualification, having played in a win over Jamaica on Tuesday before an open-top bus parade with team-mates and president Felix Tshisekedi.

Victory over rock-bottom Wolves would lift West Ham out of the relegation zone for a couple of days and leave them one point behind Leeds, with Tottenham Hotspur dropping in before their Sunday trip to Sunderland. Leeds, the last of the four relegation candidates to play this gameweek, visit Manchester United on Monday, with Daniel Farke awaiting news on ankle injuries to Anton Stach and Joe Rodon.
