Leeds United have appointed Greek businessman Andreas Dracopoulos to their board after a personal investment, the club said in a Friday afternoon statement. He will help lead the mission to become an established Premier League side.
Dracopoulos and chairman Paraag Marathe have known each other for years, and Dracopoulos has spoken about investing in the club for some time.
He co-chairs the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, a private international philanthropic organisation that backs projects worldwide aiming for lasting positive social impact.
Through SNF, more than 3,100 nonprofits across the world have received support, and he has long funded initiatives in education, arts and culture, and medicine.
Born and raised in Athens, he has been a long-time supporter, obtaining his first official Leeds United membership 50 years ago, and brings significant business and philanthropic experience to the club and community.
He joins chairman Paraag Marathe, vice-chairman Andrew Schwartzberg, and board members Peter Lowy, Eugene Schneur and Robbie Evans to complete the Board of Directors.
