Gnonto doesn't look set to leave Elland Road before the end of the summer transfer window, as things stand.

Leeds United are not prepared to let Willy Gnonto leave Elland Road before the summer transfer window closes.

This is according to Give Me Sport, who believe the Whites won't sanction a sale because Daniel Farke feels a potential promotion mission could be derailed if the Italian departs in the next couple of weeks.

Gnonto wouldn't be the first key player to leave the West Yorkshire side this summer if he did make a move elsewhere, with plenty of others making a move away following their play-off final defeat against Southampton in May.

Archie Gray sealed a move to Tottenham Hotspur and Glen Kamara also left, sealing a move to France, with the likes of Diego Llorente and Marc Roca also securing exits.

However, the most consequential move of the summer could be Crysencio Summerville's move to West Ham United, with the Dutchman registering 21 goals and 10 assists in all competitions last term.

In fairness to the Whites, they have moved to bring in some decent players in recent months, with Joe Rodon joining permanently, Alex Cairns coming in as a backup stopper, Jayden Bogle arriving as a much-needed right-back option and Joe Rothwell joining on loan to strengthen the Whites' midfield.

However, with their summer departures in mind and the fact Georginio Rutter is also set to seal a move away from Elland Road to join Brighton, there's clearly work to be done in the coming weeks to ensure Leeds are as strong as possible for the remainder of the 2024/25 campaign.

Leeds United stance revealed on Willy Gnonto

Leeds are not prepared to sanction an exit for Gnonto this window amid interest from Premier League side Everton, according to Give Me Sport, with the Merseyside outfit recently having a £23m bid rejected for him.

With the likes of Jaidon Anthony and Summerville leaving this summer, and Rutter on his way out of Elland Road, Farke believes he can't afford to lose more creativity in the final third of the pitch.

Leeds agree with this - and it has been revealed that the Whites' hierarchy are planning to resist any offers for the Italian before the end of the summer transfer window.

Gnonto endured a difficult start to the 2023/24 campaign, but he managed to recover from this and has probably done enough to put himself in the shop window.

He also scored on the opening day of this term against Portsmouth and that will have been noticed by the Toffees, who are seemingly long-term admirers of the 20-year-old.

Last summer, they were unsuccessful in their attempts to sign the player and it's unclear whether they will end up making further moves between now and the end of the window.

Italy international Gnonto is a very important player at Elland Road - and he's someone who should be retained.

At 20, the Italian should only get better and his contributions during the 2024/25 campaign could be crucial in helping the club to secure another top-six finish.

The player also has just under three years left on his contract still.

With this in mind, as well as the fact the Whites have sold others this summer, the club should be in a strong position to retain Gnonto.
