Leeds United ‘in talks to sign’ Joshua Zirkzee from Manchester United

Leeds United are exploring a striker addition for the winter window, with Il Messaggero reporting they have opened talks with Manchester United over Joshua Zirkzee, a line also echoed by TEAMtalk.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha have five and four Premier League goals respectively this season. Given both have had injury issues, Leeds could be left short if they do not add cover.

Zirkzee has made only three Premier League starts this term. If Daniel Farke can coax consistent form from the Dutchman, it could help secure survival.

Before a £36.5m switch to Old Trafford in July 2024, he was highly regarded at Bologna. In English football he has eight goals from 59 appearances so far.

The prospect of extra depth up front will appeal to Leeds, but talks, terms and performance levels would all have to align for any move to pay off.
