On Friday night, Leeds United paid its respects to those who have served our country with a special tribute and moment of silence ahead of our 2-1 win over West Ham United in the Premier League.

Ahead of kick-off both captains carried wreaths onto the pitch whilst leading their teams out, before laying them at the side of the dugouts, where they remained for the rest of the evening.

Players then took their place around the centre-circle with falling poppies on the big screen and LEDs, before a moment of silence was observed by everyone inside the stadium bowl during a special performance of The Last Post by a local bugler.

Also present at the side of the pitch during the live rendition were a number of veterans and people currently serving, representing the Royal Navy, Royal Air Force and Army, including the Royal Yorkshire Regiment, alongside four Standard Bearers.

Volunteers from the Royal British Legion hosted a poppy collection around the stadium ahead of the game to help raise much-needed funds to support our Armed Forces.

All of the Leeds United players involved in the game also wore shirts emblazoned with the poppy, and some of these shirts are now available for auction – with all proceeds going to local and national military charities.

A massive thank you to all of those who were in attendance to help mark Remembrance Day at Elland Road, along with all the servicemen and women who have fought for our country.

We will remember them.
