Leeds United player ratings vs Liverpool as Calvert-Lewin and Aaronson inspire 4-2 comeback | OneFootball

Leeds United overturned a poor first half to beat Liverpool 4-2 in a friendly, all four goals coming from substitutes. The comeback capped a night when Daniel Farke’s changes transformed the contest.

Liverpool led on seven minutes, Luke Chambers drilling in after a flicked corner, then Jeremie Frimpong crossed for Florian Wirtz to add a second. Gabriel Gudmundsson departed on 37 with what appeared to be a hamstring issue. According to Leeds Live, the player ratings reflected a stark shift after the break.

Brenden Aaronson halved the deficit on the hour, finishing through Giorgi Mamardashvili’s legs after Ethan Ampadu drove forward from a turnover. Dominic Calvert-Lewin levelled 10 minutes later, tapping in from two yards after Joe Rodon’s near-post flick. Sean Longstaff’s scuffed effort on 73 put Leeds ahead.

Calvert-Lewin sealed it with seven minutes remaining, again arriving to convert a flick-on, this time from Sebastiaan Bornauw. A patchy attacking-half surface had hampered Leeds early, but greater urgency and direct play after half-time, including the long throw, told.

Rodon was outstanding at the back and earned an 8, with Calvert-Lewin and Aaronson also given 8s. Ampadu and Longstaff received 7s, Bornauw impressed with a 7 and an assist. Alex Cairns was marked 5, Daniel James 4, while several others sat between 5 and 6, Wilfried Gnonto and Jayden Lienou were not rated, and Farke scored 7.
