Leeds United resume their Premier League survival push at Crystal Palace on Sunday, and this is how we think Daniel Farke will set them up.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Farke made nine changes for Sunday’s FA Cup tie against Norwich City, with winger Noah Okafor the only injury absentee beforehand. Dominic Calvert-Lewin also sat out after minor knee issues and did not feel ready, while Joe Rodon was rested following hamstring trouble from the weekend loss to Manchester City. Even so, he played 90 minutes in Tuesday’s visit of Sunderland.
Of those drafted in, Jaka Bijol impressed most, with Willy Gnonto, Dan James and goalscorer Joel Piroe also bright. Lucas Perri, who has lost his place as first-choice goalkeeper, produced a solid display.
Karl Darlow is tipped to return in goal. He probably should have saved Habib Diarra’s penalty, the only goal against Sunderland, but has largely impressed. Jayden Bogle, who had 20 minutes off the bench as James covered right wing back, looks set to reclaim his spot, and Rodon is expected to come back if fit.
James Justin has been excellent at full-back and centre-back, so he could keep his place ahead of the strong-claiming Bijol. Pascal Struijk is another likely recall, most naturally as the left-sided centre-back in a back three used to good effect late last year. On the left, Gabi Gudmundsson is clear first choice after a superb showing, including his first goal and assist.
Kick-off at Selhurst Park is 2pm on Sunday.
