Leeds United pursue a first pre-season win when they meet Premier League rivals Sunderland in New Jersey tomorrow night, with selection calls and a possible full debut in focus at the Sports Illustrated Stadium.
Leeds lost 3-2 to Wrexham last weekend, Joel Piroe and Sean Longstaff scoring for a much-changed side missing several key players. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the available group could look different, with some World Cup breaks ending and new signings settling.
There are three injury concerns, with Jaka Bijol, Sebastiaan Bornauw and Dominic Calvert-Lewin having sat out the Wrexham game. Tarik Muharemovic could feature if deemed ready, while a first start is on the cards for Harry Wilson.
In goal, Alex Cairns could get the nod, with James Trafford's proposed move to Leeds and Lucas Perri's subsequent switch to Torino still in flux. Rory Mahady might also be considered.
At the back, James Justin had useful minutes against Wrexham and could again fill in at centre-back. Joe Rodon was below his best but completed 90 minutes and may do so again. Nineteen-year-old Alfie Cresswell could start, avoiding any risk to Bornauw or Bijol, with Muharemovic an option off the bench.
On the right, Jayden Bogle is pushing to start after a half-time introduction last weekend. He could also operate deeper if Daniel Farke opts for a back four.
