Leeds United have provided an Elland Road redevelopment update. The derelict Fullerton Car Park changing rooms, whose wall carried a memorial mural, have been removed with the families’ support.
The club said in a statement that work began last month with the demolition of the West Stand Banqueting Suite. The former ticket office and LUTV studio have also been taken down, enabling a reduced level dig to the formation level.
Piling will run over the next few months as work starts on a corridor to keep the existing West Stand at full capacity for the 2026/27 campaign while the new West Stand is built above it. The corridor will manage safe access and be split into three areas for hospitality guests, general admission home fans and away supporters.
A new hospitality facility behind the North Stand is ready to be fitted out ahead of the 2026/27 Premier League season for relocated West Stand hospitality customers. The broadcast compound has been removed from Fullerton Car Park and will be sited across the road from the North Stand.
Planning permission for a new West Stand was granted by Leeds City Council earlier this year, with a second phase for a new North Stand. The redevelopment would lift Elland Road’s capacity to around 53,000 when complete.
Christopher Loftus and Kevin Speight were murdered in Istanbul in April 2000 while following Leeds in Europe. They are also commemorated by a plaque outside the East Stand.
