Leeds United are increasingly expected to make James Trafford their third summer signing after agreeing an initial £40 million fee, with a further five million in add-ons. An announcement has yet to arrive.

According to Fabrizio Romano, City are closing in on a deal for Marseille goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli. The 34-year-old is said to be keen on the move and will replace Trafford as back-up, a scenario that might explain Leeds’ delay.

Leeds have already brought in two players, landing Harry Wilson on a free and Bosnia defender Tarik Muharemovic in a £34 million deal, the former Sassuolo man arriving after World Cup duty.

Activity is expected to continue beyond Trafford. Another goalkeeper is likely, with Lucas Perri expected to go to Torino.

One more centre-back would help, given Sebastiaan Bornauw is a target for Köln, and cover at left-back for Gabi Gudmundsson is viewed as important.

Midfield remains on the agenda, with Shea Charles and Inter Milan’s Petar Sucic linked. An offer remains on the table for Julian Brandt, and a striker could also arrive.
