Leeds United can now trade, with the summer window open this morning, though much work may follow the World Cup, and four major calls will shape their summer.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, chairman Paraag Marathe expects fewer signings than last year's 10, with a tilt to higher quality. After 2025's defensive rebuild, including Jaka Bijol and Anton Stach, attacking difference-makers are the focus.
Leeds are not minded to weaken the squad, yet Pascal Struijk is into the final year of his deal. He could bring profit, but left-footed ball-playing centre-backs are scarce. Selling would demand equal or better quality, costly and uncertain, while a new contract would carry clear value.
Up front, Leeds still lack the right-wing or No.10 profile they chased in Harry Wilson, now a free agent. A near £40 million January bid for Jorgen Strand Larsen suggests Daniel Farke wants another striker, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin needing competition. Landing a big-money deal, the calibre of Igor Paixao or Rodrigo Muniz, remains a test.
Goalkeeper is the least settled area. Illan Meslier has gone, Alex Cairns and Karl Darlow are out of contract and in talks, while Darlow also has outside interest, and £16 million 2025 signing Lucas Perri has underwhelmed. Leeds must decide whether to keep their own, recruit a new No.1, and whether to cut losses on Perri. Rory Mahady could step up as fourth choice.
Exits will matter too. Marathe has flagged sales, with funds from fringe players Joel Piroe, Willy Gnonto and returning loanee Joe Gelhardt.
