Leyton Orient will only consider selling Leicester City target Dom Ballard if they receive an offer they deem acceptable, with five weeks of the window remaining.
According to LeicesterMercury.co.uk, the 21-year-old striker is among options to bolster Russell Martin’s frontline after Patson Daka and Jordan Ayew departed, leaving City short at centre-forward.
Ballard scored 23 League One goals in his debut season at Brisbane Road, as Richie Wellens’ side finished 20th and secured safety on the final day.
Championship rivals Bristol City have already had an opening proposal, reported at around £four million, turned down. Ballard is expected to move before the deadline, and many Leicester supporters want him at the King Power Stadium.
Orient majority shareholder David Gandler said any proposal must help the club plan for the future, and that they are under no pressure to sell.
He suggested some still view Orient as a small club, a characterisation he rejected, and outlined an aim to build a sustainable Championship side while continuing to support players such as Ballard.
Gandler added that any deal must create long-term value for the club, and reiterated that no players would be sold unless it is feasible.
