RB Leipzig will demand a fee of at least €70m (£58.2m) to sell Arsenal transfer target Benjamin Sesko.

The Slovenian striker is top of Arsenal’s wish list as the Gunners look to sign a centre-forward. Mikel Arteta’s side failed with a bid to sign the 21-year-old in the summer, as Sesko turned down interest from Arsenal and Chelsea to sign a new deal at Leipzig.

Arsenal remain interested in a deal and could accelerate an approach after injuries to Bukayo Saka and Raheem Sterling reduced their attacking options.

Speaking on potential arrivals in the January transfer window, Arteta said this week: “My focus now, honestly, is just about with the squad that we have to be as competitive as we possibly can and we have many, many options to do that, and if something unbelievable is available and the club is willing to do it, we’ll have to consider it.”

Spanish outlet Fichajes are reporting that Leipzig will demand a fee in excess of €70m (£58.2m) for Sesko, who is regarded as one of the most promising number nines in Europe.

He has scored 29 goals in 65 appearances since signing for Leipzig from Red Bull Salzburg 18 months ago. The 6ft 5in forward also boasts an impressive record at international level, having netted 16 goals for Slovenia since his debut in 2021.

Arsenal have tracked several targets, including Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres, though are understood to have Sesko as their first-choice option.
