Lennart Karl makes history at 17 in the Champions League
The young Bayern Munich prodigy, Lennart Karl, made history on Wednesday night by becoming the youngest German player ever to score a goal in the Champions League.
At just 17 years old, Karl opened the scoring in the 5th minute against Club Brugge, finishing off a brilliant solo run with a powerful strike. According to several specialist outlets, he is now not only the youngest German goalscorer in the competition, but also the youngest Bayern Munich player to ever find the net in the Champions League.
"If he keeps going like this, he'll have more opportunities this season," said his coach Vincent Kompany to UEFA after the match. Bayern Munich went on to claim a resounding 4-0 victory over the Belgian side.
