Lennart Karl has enjoyed a meteoric rise in recent months. The 18-year-old has established himself as a permanent squad option at FC Bayern, made his debut in the Bundesliga and Champions League and recently even made the leap into the German national team. His teammates – above all Michael Olise – have also played an important role in his development
For Karl, the 2025-16 season was a formative experience in many respects. The attacking player not only gained valuable minutes at the highest level, but also gained daily insights into the working methods of some of the best footballers in the world
In an interview with the club’s own magazine 51, the youngster provided exciting insights into his learning process and revealed which Bayern stars had a particular influence on him
Karl is particularly taken with Michael Olise. The two not only share an attacking mindset, but also a number of similarities in terms of play. „Michael Olise is a special guy for me who I like to watch – he plays in similar spaces, is also left-footed and has a calmness on the ball that I can learn from,“ explained Karl
No wonder: in his first season at FC Bayern, Olise immediately developed into one of the most important players in Vincent Kompany’s team and was one of the outstanding attacking players in Europe

But Karl doesn’t just pay attention to the qualities of his teammates during matches or in training. He is particularly impressed by the professionalism of the experienced Bayern stars
„I’ve learned a lot from the experienced players – from their nutrition to how they look after their bodies,“ the 18-year-old reported
In addition to Olise, Karl also cites João Palhinha and Harry Kane as role models
„With Jo or Harry, for example, I’m impressed by what they do outside of the game: how they work in the athletics area, how seriously they take it, how professional their whole everyday life is.“
Karl’s quick breakthrough into the professional ranks is not only down to his exceptional talent, but the environment at FC Bayern also plays a decisive role
Every day, the attacking player trains with world-class players who serve as a guide and help him to take the next steps in his development
These statements show that Karl is not only maturing as a footballer, but is also internalizing the professional approach of his experienced teammates
It is precisely this mixture of talent, willingness to learn and professional attitude that makes the international one of FC Bayern’s most exciting projects for the future. The coming years should show how far his path can take him.
