Leon Goretzka will leave Bayern Munich at the end of the season, the midfielder addressing supporters on Instagram after confirmation of his summer exit.

Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund confirmed on Friday that the 30-year-old will depart as a free agent when his contract expires this summer.

Goretzka thanked fans and made clear he will stay with Bayern until the season ends.

He praised the squad and coach, spoke of a united group, and said he feels committed, targeting a return to Marienplatz in May to celebrate major trophies.

He added that he and the club agreed their successful spell would finish this summer and that it is the right moment to begin a new chapter as a footballer and as a person.

Goretzka urged a collective push for maximum success this season with Bayern and looked ahead to the national team at the World Cup, closing by thanking supporters.
