Leonardo Pantaleão becomes Corinthians Deliberative Council president after Tuma takes leave | OneFootball

Leonardo Pantaleão has taken over as acting president of Corinthians’ Deliberative Council after Romeu Tuma Júnior requested a leave of absence on Tuesday morning.

According to ge.globo, councillor Felipe Ezabella said he filed the action that led to a court injunction suspending Saturday’s General Assembly on statute reform, initially set for 18 April.

By statute, the vice-president assumes the role in the chair’s absence, so Pantaleão now conducts business for the council. The appointment is temporary and will revert if Tuma returns. He pledged continuity and respect for the statutes across the board, Cori and the Fiscal Council.

A criminal lawyer and triennial councillor, Pantaleão was elected vice-president in August 2025 with 119 votes from 265. He also took charge of the Ethics and Discipline Commission after Roberson de Medeiros, known as Dunga, stepped aside.

Early on, he will need to take forward the case involving former president Andrés Sanchez over alleged personal use of the club’s corporate card. The Ethics Commission, in a report authored by Pantaleão and approved unanimously, recommended Sanchez’s expulsion.

That opinion now goes to the Deliberative Council, which Pantaleão must convene for analysis and a vote. No date has been set, and it is likely to happen after scrutiny of Corinthians’ 2025 accounts.

If he stays in the role, Pantaleão could oversee the vote on 2025 accounts from Osmar Stabile’s administration. Under the General Sports Law, Serie A and B clubs must publish by 30 April, and rejection could see Stabile removed and ineligible.
