Robert Lewandowski will leave Barcelona at the end of the season after four years with the club. According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, both parties have reached a point of no return and will go their separate ways.
Talks over his future had cooled in recent weeks, with no formal offer containing concrete terms arriving and the striker unwilling to wait beyond mid May to plan for his family. The club were minded to recruit a first-choice No nine for the coming years, signalling a change of cycle.
Lewandowski joined in summer 2022 and delivered under Xavi and Hansi Flick, scoring 119 goals in 191 appearances. His standout campaign was 2024/25, when he hit 42 to help win the Copa, La Liga and the Supercopa. He departs without a Champions League.
The Poland international is expected to have the chance to say farewell on Sunday at the Spotify Camp Nou against Betis, with nothing riding on the match for either side. The occasion is set to be a relaxed send-off.
Leaving the Barcelona area will not be simple, with his family settled in Castelldefels and his wife Anna running a fitness business. Even so, his competitive edge points him forward, and a move to Saudi Arabia is viewed as the most likely option, though not yet definitive.
