LFP to confirm 2026 Trophée des champions venue within a month | OneFootball

The LFP will name the host venue for the 2026 Trophée des champions within a month, with the match scheduled for 15 or 16 August.

According to L'Équipe, the league's board met on Thursday morning to review plans. The game is likely to be staged either in Africa or in France, and Vincent Labrune has hinted that domestic revenues would not be high.

Five African countries have expressed interest, led by Côte d'Ivoire. Ligue 1 has a sizeable following in sub-Saharan Africa, which delivers a significant share of French professional football's international TV income.

Should the fixture be played in France, the Stade de France would be unavailable on 15 or 16 August. The LFP could draw lots to decide whether it is held at the champions of France's ground or the Coupe de France winners' ground.

The matter has been raised with the clubs concerned. A decision should be taken within a month.
