Liam Rosenior could reportedly be sacked as Chelsea manager today after the team’s abysmal run continued last night with a 3-0 defeat at Brighton.

It’s been a nightmare start to life at Stamford Bridge for Rosenior, with the club now in serious danger of missing out on Champions League qualification, having also been dumped out of the tournament in embarrassing style by PSG recently.

According to Simon Phillips, it now seems Rosenior’s future is in serious doubt and that an official statement could come from the Blues later today.

The Chelsea reporter adds that the club’s players don’t trust Rosenior and have been mocking him and his methods.

Time is surely up for Liam Rosenior

Rosenior’s Chelsea side have now suffered five consecutive Premier League defeats without scoring a single goal – their worst run since all the way back in 1912.

Even if the 41-year-old didn’t inherit the easiest situation at CFC, these are obviously unacceptable numbers for a club of this size.

This total collapse from Chelsea now means they’re down in 7th place, and they could slip even further down as the teams just below them each have a game in hand.

Rosenior did well at previous club Strasbourg, but it looks like this kind of job came too soon for him, and it’s hard to see his methods having any kind of positive impact on this group of players.

Could Chelsea move for Cesc Fabregas?

Phillips has suggested Chelsea already look prepared to axe Rosenior and move for Como manager Cesc Fabregas.

“Based off what I’ve heard though, I’d be VERY surprised if we don’t get that official statement from Chelsea today saying they have let him go and McFarlane takes the team for now – likely until the summer when they go for a new permanent manager,” Phillips wrote.

“I know they will approach Cesc Fabregas if this does happen, but I’m not sure he will come right now. Marco Silva is another name I’ve heard early doors at this stage, but more names will certainly come up IF they do decide to sack Rosenior.

“So, I cannot confirm he’s been sacked yet, but I do think he could be sacked today.”
