Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior has declared that Chelsea are not far off competing with Arsenal at a fan event this week.

The Blues boss has had a decent start to life at Stamford Bridge, getting some pretty good results so far and seemingly having a good impact on the group of players he has in the mix.

Chelsea obviously lost 1-0 against Arsenal on Tuesday night to head out of the Carabao Cup, a game that ended 4-2 to Arsenal on aggregate over two legs.

There was certainly some positives for Chelsea to take over the two legs, and striker Joao Pedro earned himself Player of the Match for his superb hold up play in the second leg game.

But overall, Chelsea were edged out of it by a more experienced side and had to make do with second best only.

At a fan event this week, as picked up on video by our writer Charlie Patrick on X, Rosenior was filmed saying:

“I think the biggest thing we learn [from the tie against Arsenal] is we’re not far away already. We’re not far away from competing with Arsenal.

“Obviously, at the moment, Arsenal are top of the Premier League. That’s where we want to be. And I’ll do everything I can, and the players will do everything they can to make sure we’re top of the league for many years to come.”

Arsenal aren’t even that good to be honest

Personally, I don’t even think Arsenal are that good. I don’t think they offered much of a threat against Chelsea and in all honesty, they are certainly not a dominate team. They know how to defend well, they are organised, they are good at set pieces, and they are good at scraping a win. But in terms of sheer quality, they aren’t that great. So yes, Chelsea SHOULD be near them in all honesty. I’ll call it now, I think Arsenal will bottle the tittle and Manchester City will win it. Heard it here first!
