Lille’s Ethan Mbappé could miss rest of the season | OneFootball

Ethan Mbappé (19) was absent entirely from the teamsheet as Lille OSC lost to Olympique Lyonnais on Sunday. The Frenchman was not named as an absentee during the pre-match press conference by Bruno Genesio, however, post-match, the Lille manager confirmed that the former Paris Saint-Germain midfielder had suffered yet another injury setback.

Genesio said that he didn’t “have very good news” regarding Mbappé, confirming a thigh injury. The former Olympique Lyonnais manager added that he didn’t know the seriousness of the injury, nor the period of his absence.

However, as per a report from Foot Mercato, it is another serious injury for Mbappé. Genesio said that he would be out “for some time”, and the publication specified that it is unlikely that the midfielder will play again this season. 

This season, the midfielder has been limited to 15 appearances in all competitions. He missed the start of the season with a thigh injury and then suffered another thigh injury in October that ruled him out for another month.
