Lionel Messi responds to Barcelona’s birthday message | OneFootball

Lionel Messi has on Wednesday taken to social media, to send a message of appreciation the way of former employers Barcelona.

This comes after the Blaugrana sent a message of their own the way of the club’s greatest-ever player, on his birthday.

For those not aware, Lionel Messi turns 39 years old today. Despite his ongoing excellence at this summer’s World Cup, the Argentine is now very much in the twilight years of his legendary career, at a point when the vast majority would already have hung up their boots.

Messages of well wishes have, in turn, come pouring in for Messi from across the world of football over the course of the day to date.

One such post came courtesy of the aforementioned Barcelona, who reached out to the veteran attacker through a post across the club’s social media platforms.

And as alluded to above, Messi has since issued his response.

Taking to the comments section of Barca’s Instagram post, the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner wrote:

‘Muchas gracias!’
