Mexican wonderkid Gilberto Mora is shaking up the transfer market. He has been one of the standout stars of the Under-20 World Cup in Chile so far, scoring three goals and providing two assists in four matches.
Just 16 years old, the versatile winger, capable of playing on both flanks and through the middle, has generated unanimous praise among international scouts and is seen as a future top-level footballer.
As already reported, FC Barcelona have taken a strong liking towards the Mexican international. The club’s scouting department is following him closely, and the sporting management has his name underlined.
The fact that Mora cannot leave Mexico until October next year (after turning 18), meaning, in practice, January 2027 for the European market, works in Barcelona’s favour, as the Catalans continue to advance through stages of their financial restructuring process.
However, as reported already, competition for Mora’s services is heating up, with several European heavyweights planning a move
Now, according to SPORT, Inter Miami are positioning themselves to make an offer to sign the Mexican gem from Xolos de Tijuana, and the lure of playing with Lionel Messi could prove to be a major factor.

Mora perfectly fits the new direction Inter Miami wish to pursue. After benefiting from the experience of several seasoned players from Europe, the club wants to take a new turn.
The plan is to recruit some of the most promising young talents in world football, and Mexico, naturally within MLS’s sphere of influence, is a key target area.
As with European clubs, Inter Miami would need to wait until October 2026, when Mora turns 18, before he could officially move to the United States.
The young star’s agent, Rafaela Pimienta, formerly the right-hand of the late Mino Raiola, has been receiving inquiries, though no formal offers have yet been made.
Mora’s club, Tijuana, which already accepts that he will leave next year, has not yet set an official asking price. For now, teams are simply positioning themselves behind the scenes.
