Lionel Scaloni has made three changes to Argentina’s starting XI for the World Cup final against Spain at 21:00 at the MetLife Stadium in New York.
According to L'Équipe, Rodrigo De Paul returns after starting on the bench in the 2-1 semi-final win over England, with Gonzalo Montiel and Nico Gonzalez also coming in. They replace Giuliano Simeone, Nahuel Molina and Leandro Paredes.
Simeone, who began on the right of the attack in the last match, moves to the bench. Montiel takes the right-back berth, while Gonzalez comes into midfield.
Alexis Mac Allister should operate more centrally in midfield. The squad had been at full strength in recent training sessions.
Lionel Messi will lead a front two alongside Julian Alvarez, preferred to Lautaro Martinez. Argentina XI: E. Martinez, Montiel, Romero, Li. Martinez, Tagliafico, De Paul, E. Fernandez, Mac Allister, Nico Gonzalez, Messi (captain), J. Alvarez.
