Liverpool thrashed Qarabag 6-0 in the Champions League at Anfield on Wednesday to progress to the round of 16.

The Reds suffered a huge injury blow early on, with Jeremie Frimpong coming off inside the third minute.

The visitors registered the game’s first shot on target, with Camilo Duran stinging Alisson Becker’s palms.

Hugo Ekitike fired wide after a fast break, before Alexis Mac Allister put Liverpool ahead. He headed home despite Mateusz Kochalski’s efforts to keep it out.

Florian Wirtz doubled the Reds’ lead after 20 minutes, smashing the ball home after combining with Ekitike.

After multiple attempts from the hosts failed to hit the target, Kochalski made a fortuitous save to deny Cody Gakpo from close range.

Mohamed Salah, making his 80th appearance for the Reds in the competition, made it 3-0 after 50 minutes.

He curled a free-kick into the top corner after Dominic Szoboszlai rolled the ball into his path.

The Hungarian is the second Liverpool player to score or assist in six consecutive Champions League games, alongside Salah.

Kochalski produced another superb stop, parrying Gakpo’s shot away. Ekitike then extended the hosts’ advantage.

McAllister bagged his second of the night, rounding the goalkeeper and slotting home. Federico Chiesa completed the scoring on the stroke of full-time,

The Reds finished the league phase in third, collecting 18 points from eight games.
