Speaking on the Inside Track podcast, journalist Pete O’Rourke stated that Liverpool are keeping tabs on Ferencvaros midfielder Alex Toth. O’Rourke said,
“He’s a young player who’s earning a lot of plaudits in European football.
“He’s having a good season with Ferencvaros, a Hungary international as well, similar to Hungarian compatriot Dominik Szoboszlai as well in the style of play.
“So, if he’s anything like that, I’m sure there’ll be a number of clubs looking at him. Newcastle have been linked. Liverpool and Brighton have also been watching Toth as well.
“Newcastle have been linked with a few midfielders. So maybe it is an area of the team they would like to strengthen.
“But when everybody’s fit, it’s hard to break into that Newcastle side because you’ve got Tonali, Bruno Guimaraes, Joelinton as their preferred midfield three.
“Then you’ve got the likes of Jacob Ramsey, Joe Willock and others as well who can be called upon. So yeah, I’m sure Newcastle are probably keeping tabs on Toth, like a number of top European clubs.”
The 20-year-old has caught the eye with his performances at the centre of Ferencvaros’ midfield this season. Toth has banged in two goals and grabbed five assists in 22 matches for his current employers so far in this campaign across all fronts.

The Hungarian talent is currently among the best young midfielders back in his homeland. Thus, it is no surprise that Liverpool are among the clubs hoping to sign him.
His current deal at Ferencvaros will expire in the summer of 2027, which could open the door for the Reds to sign him on the cheap at the end of this campaign.
Toth usually works hard for his side defensively and is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet. He has got the vision to engineer some inviting chances for his teammates in the final third and can strike the ball with venom from long range.
The Hungarian talent has already added a few goals and assists to his game. However, only time will tell whether he can maintain his good form in the Premier League.
Toth would no doubt enhance the quality of Liverpool boss Arne Slot’s midfield in the long run. He is more than capable of serving as a good, rotational piece in the Merseyside club’s squad. At 20, Toth is undoubtedly a prospect to watch out for in the future, so Slot should focus on getting him on board next year.
