In a recent report, journalist Mark Brus claimed that Liverpool are locked in a three-way battle for Brentford defender Nathan Collins this summer. It has been stated that the Reds would have to rival Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United in the race to land the Irish centre-back in this transfer window.
Collins enjoyed a solid campaign at Brentford after he put in a series of impressive displays at the heart of their backline. The 24-year-old scored two times and earned five assists in 42 matches for the Bees last season on all fronts.
The Irish centre-half gave a good account of himself on the defensive end of the pitch as he made 40 tackles, 77 blocks and 34 interceptions in the Premier League. He was even tidy when distributing the ball from the back, based on his pass completion rate of 85.9% in league football (stats via fbref.com).
His current contract at the English club will run out in the summer of 2029. Hence, the Reds would have to make a big offer if they are serious about winning the race for his services in this transfer period.

Collins is a solid tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to earn the ball back for his side on the defensive end of the field. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when required and is a tidy passer of the ball.
Standing at 1.93m, Collins can use his strong frame to dominate the opposition attackers in the air. He has already proven himself in the Premier League and is well-equipped to make an immediate impact at the Merseyside club.
Collins would no doubt add more bite and steel to Liverpool head coach Arne Slot’s defence. He is good enough to compete for a regular first-team spot at Anfield this season.
At 24, Collins has his best years ahead of him, which makes him a worthy target for the Reds to pursue in this transfer period. He will also help Liverpool challenge for some major trophies in the coming years. Thus, he would be a great option for the Merseyside club to pursue this summer.
