Liverpool boss Arne Slot has urged fans to move on from Trent Alexander-Arnold’s exit and concentrate on their title celebrations.

Alexander-Arnold received boos from some Liverpool fans after being brought on against Arsenal last week, following the announcement that he would be leaving the club this summer.

The England international is expected to join Real Madrid, but Slot says it is time to “draw a line under” the news.

“I was already happy that nobody asked about it, I thought we could leave this behind,” Slot joked in his press conference ahead of the game against Brighton.

“Last week people talked about it to me, then of course we had the reaction from our fans in the stadium which was different, positive and negative, then all the pundits talked about it and the whole country talked about it.

“Now I think it’s time to draw a line under that. Let’s focus on the fact that we’ve won the league and to enjoy the upcoming week with that feeling and not talk and be distracted that much about Trent’s situation.”

The Liverpool squad have enjoyed some time off this week having already wrapped up the title, and Slot says he is unsure whether Alexander-Arnold will play a part in Monday’s game.

“I haven’t spoken to him yet, today is the first day we came back together,” he said.

“It’s quite early to say what the team will look like and what the squad will look like for Monday.”

With Alexander-Arnold set to depart, Liverpool have been heavily linked with a move for right-back Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen but Slot would not be drawn on the reports.

“We don’t talk about the players we want to bring in in public until the moment they’ve signed for us, then you can ask me everything about them,” he said.

“What I can say is that we already have Conor Bradley who can play really good in that position, Joe Gomez played in that position multiple times, so it’s not like when Trent leaves I have no clue what to do anymore.

“But as a club we’re always looking at interesting players who can strengthen our squad.”
