With the World Cup ending this week, movement is finally expected on the Liverpool transfer front. After securing deals for Jeremy Jacquet and Victor Munoz early on, there hasn’t been many updates at all.
Replacing Mohamed Salah, who ended his contract one year early to leave this summer, remains the priority for the Reds.
After moving for RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande with no success, Bradley Barcola of PSG now seems the obvious choice to fill that void.
However, PSG are expected to demand a huge fee for the 23-year-old. Any movement on that deal is expected to be in the coming weeks after the conclusion of the World Cup.
But a Fabrizio Romano update has got Liverpool fans on the edge of their seat…

Romano has poured fuel on the fire with a tweet earlier today, but first we need to look further back.
Posting on X, on the June 28th, Romano said: “Bradley Barcola situation remains absolutely open as he’s high on Liverpool list, as reported for months.”
“If both Diomande/Akliouche join PSG, Barcola future could change in case of big proposal.”
“Liverpool keen since summer 2025.”
But today, Romano reposted that tweet with the simple caption: “👀🇫🇷”

Such cryptic posts from Romano usually indicate movement on some sort of deal. Liverpool fans will be hoping that there has been a breakthrough in their pursuit of the PSG forward…
Barcola isn’t the only name on Liverpool’s radar. Recent reports have suggested that Brighton’s Yankuba Minteh is another name being considered, despite his valuation sitting at around £70m.
Koln forward Said El Mala was also linked, but those rumours have since quietened. Similarly, a move for Lille’s Fernandez-Pardo also doesn’t appear to be on the cards.
It seems pretty clear that Barcola is now Liverpool’s first-choice, but any move is likely going to be extremely expensive.
