In a recent post on X, journalist Martin Charquero mentioned that Liverpool could re-sign Al-Hilal striker Darwin Nunez this summer. It has been claimed that the Uruguay international might opt to return to the Merseyside club this off-season.

Nunez’s Decent Numbers In Saudi Football

Nunez managed to shine at times for Al-Hilal over the past 12 months. The Uruguayan forward found the back of the net nine times and secured five assists in 24 matches for the Saudi club last season across various competitions.

The 26-year-old is currently among the most talented strikers in the Saudi Pro League. Therefore, Liverpool would do well to re-sign him in this transfer window.

His current contract at Al-Hilal will run out in the summer of 2028, which could make it tough for the Reds to sign him on the cheap this off-season.

Should Liverpool Boss Andoni Iraola Bring Nunez Back To Merseyside?

Nunez excels at finding a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He has got the vision to create some decent chances for his teammates in and around the opponent’s penalty area and is quite intelligent with his movements up top.

The Uruguayan sensation has the pace to cause a lot of headaches for his marker in the final third. Standing at 1.85m, Nunez can use his strong frame to win a few aerial duels for his team. He already knows the Merseyside club well from his previous spell with them and won’t take much time to settle into life in the Premier League if the Reds decide to re-sign him in this summer transfer period.

We can expect Nunez to add more quality and depth to Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola’s frontline. He is good enough to serve as a decent replacement for Hugo Ekitike, who is sidelined with a long-term injury.

At 26, Nunez has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a decent choice for the Reds to consider this summer. The South American talent will also help the Merseyside giants compete for some major honours over the next few years. All in all, Iraola should consider bringing him back to Anfield, but only for a reasonable fee.
