Liverpool’s resounding 5-1 Champions League victory over Eintracht Frankfurt was marred by a fresh injury concern for defender Jeremie Frimpong. The Dutch right-back lasted less than 20 minutes before being forced off with what appeared to be a hamstring problem.

Speaking after the match, Arne Slot admitted the situation looked far from positive. “I expect Frimpong to be out for a few weeks with this new injury,” the Liverpool manager said. His tone reflected the frustration of losing another key player at a time when the squad had begun to regain confidence.

Frimpong had been selected to start against Frankfurt, but after pulling up midway through the first half, he received immediate treatment before limping off. Conor Bradley replaced him and produced an assured display as Liverpool recovered from an early setback to secure a convincing win.
The setback continues a difficult start to life at Anfield for Frimpong, who joined in the summer for £35 million. He previously spent a lengthy spell out after suffering a hamstring injury on the opening day of the Premier League season against Bournemouth.
Since returning to action in September, he has been a regular feature in Slot’s plans, providing pace and width on the right flank. However, this latest problem threatens to halt that progress once more.
While the result in Germany lifted spirits and ended a poor run of form, the night brought mixed emotions for Liverpool’s staff and supporters. In addition to Frimpong’s injury, record signing Alexander Isak was substituted at half-time after aggravating a groin issue.
Liverpool’s ability to dominate despite early disruption will encourage Slot, but the growing list of absentees presents another test of the depth and resilience within his squad.
