Liverpool are exploring a move for Parma defender Giovanni Leoni, according to The Athletic.
The Reds have been busy in the summer transfer market but are still looking to strengthen their defence with another centre-back.
The 18-year-old has emerged as one of Serie A’s brightest young talents after a standout campaign with Parma. His displays have reportedly attracted attention from leading clubs across Europe.
Manager Arne Slot is keen to add depth to his backline. With the heavy schedule ahead, there are concerns over whether the current first-choice defenders can maintain form for an entire season.
Liverpool have also been linked with Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi, with uncertainty continuing around Ibrahima Konate’s long-term future at Anfield.
Parma’s asking price for the teenager remains unknown, but any move is expected to require a strong effort from Liverpool.
The Italian centre-back has good tactical awareness, maintains strong positioning, and is a reliable presence in aerial duels.
Comfortable with both feet, Leoni can operate in the centre or on the right of a back three.
His ability to play out from the back stands out, using progressive passes and forward runs to start attacks and bypass opposition lines.
Liverpool view him as a promising addition who could develop into a long-term option in their defensive set-up.
Leoni’s profile appears to fit their vision of building a squad capable of competing on multiple fronts.
