There is significant transfer uncertainty around several of Liverpool’s forward players right now.
2026 has reportedly been earmarked as the year when a replacement will be sought for Mohamed Salah - who looks a long way off his best form at present.
Then there’s the case of Federico Chiesa - the Italian forward who joined from Juventus back in 2024 but has yet to convince Arne Slot that he can start matches on a regular basis.
And there’s even Cody Gakpo - who has admitted that he could have moved to Bayern Munich last summer.
The Dutchman has signed a new contract - and it appears his future on Merseyside is assured for the time being.

However should Liverpool decide to add a left-wing option next summer - perhaps in the shape of Antoine Semenyo - then the 26-year-old could be moving on.
Right now his focus is on performing well for the Reds - but he does have interests alive in other industries too.
For example - property.
It’s been reported in the Dutch media source Man Man that Gakpo has just put one of his properties up for sale.
“Footballer Cody Gakpo, known from his time at PSV and now playing for Liverpool, has listed an apartment in Rotterdam on Funda,” the report reads.
“The property offers a combination of comfort and stylish finishes, but clearly doesn't fit the luxurious lifestyle of the incredibly wealthy footballer.
“Has he even lived in this apartment himself? Not at all. This house on Funda is just one of many real estate investments Cody Gakpo has made.
“The man reportedly owns a remarkable number of properties, a portfolio he's built up with a friend named Jordy, according to Bekende Buren.”
This particular property was purchased for a reported sum of €300k and is listed for just under €350k. That represents a near-€50k profit for the Netherlands’ international and his partner.
Not a bad sum for the striker - who has a thriving career both on and off the pitch.
