Liverpool are facing a summer of extensive change. Trent Alexander-Arnold is leaving and now it’s widely expected that Jeremie Frimpong will be brought to the club to replace him.
We could see big changes up front too with Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez earmarked for the exit. But it would appear the club’s priority is to bring a new left-back in. Andy Robertson has been a terrific servant to the Reds but at 31 now looks past his best.
Kostas Tsimikas is not regarded as a successor-in-waiting for the Scot and, in fact, has been linked with an outgoing transfer of his own.
There are several candidates named as potential arrivals with Bournemouth star Milos Kerkez seemingly front of the queue. The 21-year-old could be available for £45m - and is well-known to sporting director Richard Hughes who signed him for the Cherries.
Antonee Robinson, meanwhile, has his admirers inside Anfield and the Fulham full-back has perhaps been the best in his position in the Premier League this season.
Rayan Ait-Nouri, too, has had an exceptional campaign once again. The 23-year-old Wolves man has been deployed largely at left wing-back under Vitor Pereira, providing five goals and seven assists in the top flight.
He can also feature as a conventional left-back, a left-sided midfielder and has even filled in as left-sided centre-back. That versatility is sure to appeal to Arne Slot, with the Algerian international a very tidy performer on the ball.
Wolves are laying the groundwork for a summer sale - tying the defender to a new contract and preparing to buy out a sell-on clause owed to former club Angers.
A new deal would protect his value and the removal of the clause - which will cost £9m - means Wolves won’t owe a percentage of the transfer fee to the Ligue 1 side.
And now Ait-Nouri has given a big signal that he is readying himself for a move. The France-born defender has changed to the CAA Stellar agency - which also represents Ibrahima Konate as well as Liverpool transfer target Fermin Lopez.
Furthermore, transfer supremo Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Wolves have given a green light to Ait-Nouri’s departure. The left-footer “can leave” this summer, he claims in a post on X, and Liverpool could be among the contenders for his signature.
