Liverpool’s extensive list of outgoings has left them a little light on attacking players for the 2025/26 season.

We’ve seen Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez move on for sizeable fees - while Ben Doak has also joined them as a high-profile exit.

Harvey Elliott could yet go - and although Federico Chiesa has played himself back into contention the impression is that the Reds could do with one more forward at least.

Most fans are expecting Alexander Isak to arrive before the end of the window and he would become the club’s new No9 if he were to come in.

Liverpool like Barcola

But there remains the possibility that sporting director Richard Hughes adds a more versatile attacker in order to cover as many positions as possible.

Bradley Barcola is among the players most closely linked with a move to Merseyside. The Paris Saint-Germain forward, 22, was a treble winner last season under Luis Enrique but appears to have fallen down the pecking order of late.

France international Barcola has to contend with competition from Ousmane Dembele, Desire Doue and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia for a place in the team while Lee Kang-In also started the season in good form.

Has Luis Enrique got Barcola doubts?

Liverpool were touted to make a bid over the last few weeks by reporters in France and there is no doubt the former Lyon star would increase Liverpool’s attacking threat.

And now a report in Defensa Central claims that Luis Enrique sees Rodrygo Goes as the ideal partner for Doue and Dembele in the PSG front line.

Although it’s acknowledged within the report that the move is unlikely - owing to Madrid and PSG’s poor relations over Kylian Mbappe - it demonstrates that the Spanish coach is not altogether convinced over Barcola.

Luis Enrique wants Rodrygo

“The Asturian would like to sign a player like Rodrygo Goes, as he knows he would complement Ousmane Dembélé and Désiré Doué perfectly, but he understands that PSG's relationship with Real Madrid makes this practically impossible, and that the Brazilian is not in the mood,” the report reads.

We have all seen through the treatment of Gianluigi Donnarumma just how brutal Luis Enrique can be when it comes to his own players - and Barcola could be the next treble winner told to take his leave.

The winger signed from Lyon back in 2023 and is under contract until 2028. If he fails to make Luis Enrique’s preferred XI over the next few weeks then Liverpool could well have a chance to pounce.
