One thing is certain, even if Salah doesn't exit Anfield in January, Liverpool will still have to try and source a replacement for him over the next couple of transfer windows.
The attacker may not have been in the best run of form recently but eve with this in mind, his quality is undeniable.
And, as good as Federico Chiesa has been since he joined from Juventus last season, it's hard to see the Italian filling the void left by Salah in the future.
This is why it isn't a surprise to see players such as Real Madrid's Arda Guler being linked with a Liverpool move.
That is, according to a report from Caught Offside who state that Liverpool are now leading the race to sign the Turkiye international.
Other Premier League clubs such as Arsenal and Manchester United are also being linked with a move for the attacker.
The report goes on to say this his versatility makes him a 'perfect fit' for the Reds due to their ever-changing system.
Slot is a 'fan' of the 20-year-old with Liverpool's scouting department also 'impressed' by his talent.
A couple of the main things that have held Liverpool back this term are their lack of goal-scoring prowess and their lack of creativity.
The Anfield outfit may have signed players such as Florian Wirtz and Isak but, realistically, Dominik Szoboszlai, who was already among their ranks, has been their best player.
And, while it's good that the Hungarian is having one of his best seasons ever, the fact that the Reds spent over £200 million on two players who haven't done as well as Liverpool would have hoped is far from ideal.
If Liverpool were to sign Guler, he'd no doubt help solve the Reds' creative issues and perhaps even help turn their season around.
Of course, a move for the 20-year-old will mostly depend on what ends up happening with Salah but, realistically, it's hard to think of another player who could offer Liverpool everything he does.
That is, especially since Carlo Ancelotti once dubbed the youngster a "tremendous" player.
