Liverpool need to make a lot of changes to their team this summer.

Even though an obscene amount of money was spent on upgrading their ranks in the 2025-26 summer transfer window, most of their signings haven't worked out.

Indeed, most of them have spent extended periods on the sidelines but, in reality, it's clear that some of the new arrivals just aren't cut out to be Liverpool players just yet.

This could obviously change after they've spent another pre-season together but, it's clear that some more money needs to be spent if the Anfield outfit want to get back to their best, especially now that Mohamed Salah is leaving.

The Ivorian burst onto the scene with RB Leipzig last season and this term, he's only got better.

So, it's hardly surprising to see some of the world's biggest clubs all battling for his transfer.

However, of all the clubs linked with a potential move, Arne Slot's men have been the ones most mentioned with Sky German journalist Philipp Hinze now sharing how much the club would have to pay to sign the 19-year-old this summer.

"RB Leipzig are now demanding more than €100m for Yan Diomande," he wrote via his personal X account.

"Since qualification for the Champions League is very realistic, Leipzig no longer have financial pressure to sell.

"Diomande’s value is rising. The €20m transfer fee paid to Leganés last summer has, in the club’s view, more than quintupled in value.

"Meanwhile, Leipzig are planning a contract adjustment, including a salary increase, to keep Diomande until 2027.

"Leipzig are fighting to retain the Ivorian for another season. But: Diomande is not untouchable. Depends on potential offers."

Liverpool are paying for Yan Diomande's potential as well as his current form

Seeing as though Diomande is still so young, there's plenty of time for him to develop into an even better player.

The "unbelievable" 19-year-old has been one of RB Leipzig's best players this term as he's managed to contribute to 21 goals across all competitions thus far.

which proves how much versatility he already has.

And, while that may not be all that important to some clubs, with Liverpool's injury troubles this term, having players who can play across multiple positions could be key to their revival.

The £85 million fee that Liverpool were initially quoted was already fairly steep but, now that the Bundesliga outfit are demanding more for their star man, Richard Hughes and Slot need to weigh up the pros and cons of his transfer.

There's no knowing what the Anfield outfit will do in the transfer market this summer but, with the amount of journalists linking Diomande with L4, it would be a massive shock to not see the club at least try and make the 19-year-old a Liverpool player in the 2026-27 season.
