In truth, Liverpool moved to sign Alisson's replacement last summer. They grabbed Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia, paying shy of £30m for the shot-stopper.
The plan is unquestionably for Mamardashvili to be Liverpool's next no.1 and we should get an idea of how realistic that is this season. Maybe even this summer as he finally joins up with the Reds for pre-season.
But replacing the world no.1 won't be easy. Making things even more difficult is Kelleher's exit to Brentford - he's a brilliant goalkeeper in his own right.
Liverpool, though, clearly have a plan. They're also signing Armin Pecsi from Puskas Akademie in Hungary.
