Liverpool appear to be preparing for another star to announce his exit from Anfield.

Liverpool have seen two of their all-time greats announce their exits ahead of the season close. Both Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson will leave the club.

But the thing is, it may not stop there. We'd actually be surprised if it did, in fact.

Alisson Becker is heavily linked with a move to Juventus as he enters the final year of his contract. Then there's Ibrahima Konate, whose contract expires this summer.

And it seems Liverpool are preparing for him to leave. TuttoJuve claims that Pierre Kalulu is an 'absolute priority' for the Reds in the transfer window - something that only makes sense if they're preparing for Konate to depart.

Though, there is another option. Virgil van Dijk has also been linked with an exit as Galatasaray circle that one. Van Dijk is entering the final year of his own deal.

Even Joe Gomez could depart. He nearly left last summer and feels even more likely this time around. Kalulu, however, would surely be replacing a starting centre-back, rather than the more squad-role of Gomez.

Regardless of who it is, Liverpool are bracing for a major replacement. Another long-term, title-winning sevant looks ready to leave.

Ibrahima Konate: Situation Summary

Liverpool Performance and Stats

As of 8 May 2026, Ibrahima Konaté remains a defensive stalwart for Liverpool, having established a solid partnership with Virgil van Dijk. The 26-year-old has made 47 appearances this season, logging nearly 4,000 minutes and scoring twice. He most recently played the full 90 minutes in the 3–2 defeat to Manchester United on 3 May. Despite the team’s defensive struggles this term, Konaté’s individual metrics remain strong, boasting an 88% passing accuracy and ranking among the club’s top performers for ball recoveries.

Contract and Transfer News

Konaté’s future has been a primary focus for sporting director Richard Hughes. While his current deal was set to expire in 2026, recent reports from late April suggest Liverpool are nearing a long-term agreement to tie the Frenchman down. This comes despite persistent interest from Real Madrid, where former boss Jürgen Klopp was reportedly keen on a reunion.
