Liverpool have reached a full agreement to sign Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen ahead of the summer transfer window.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the deal on Saturday, with the Dutch right-back set to join the Premier League champions after agreeing personal terms and a five-year contract.

Frimpong will undergo a medical in the coming days before officially completing the move. Liverpool will activate his €35 million (£29.6m) release clause.

The final fee could rise to around €40 million when including solidarity payments to his former clubs.

The 24-year-old becomes the club’s first summer signing, arriving to reinforce a position that will soon be vacated by Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is expected to join Real Madrid.

Frimpong, a former Manchester City youth player, previously played for Celtic before moving to Leverkusen in 2021. He has since established himself as one of the Bundesliga’s standout performers.

He has also featured regularly for the Netherlands national team, with experience at both wing-back and full-back. That versatility could prove valuable as Liverpool revamp their defensive structure.
