Reds set sights on talent from across Europe in bid to replace Egyptian King
Liverpool’s preferred replacement for Mohamed Salah has been revealed, with seven top talents linked with a summer move to Anfield.
The Egyptian King, 33, will call time on his Merseyside stint come the end of this season, leaving the Reds searching for a replacement.
Salah’s shoes will take some filling. He has garnered 255 goals and 122 assists in his nine years with the club, and they have set their sights on some of Europe’s top talents as they look for someone to match his remarkable output.
While 17-year-old starlet Rio Ngumoha has impressed this season, he seems too raw for him to take Salah’s place, and a report in the Daily Mail has linked seven names from across the continent with a move to Anfield.
RB Leipzig talent Yan Diomande is thought to be their top choice. Just two years Ngumoha’s senior, the Ivorian is the envy of various European heavyweights, including Chelsea, Arsenal and Bayern Munich, but could reportedly cost €100million (£87.3m) after racking up 19 goal involvements this season.
Per the Mail’s report, Liverpool have scouted the winger extensively, though it is not yet clear whether the Reds would be prepared to meet the Bundesliga side’s eye-watering asking price.
Able to play on both wings, Diomande was playing amateur football in the United States just three years ago before moving to Germany, where he has set the Bundesliga alight.

Liverpool have a positive relationship with Leipzig, too, having signed both Dominik Szoboszlai and Ibrahima Konate from them.
But they are also considering options within the Premier League, with Brighton’s Yankuba Minteh in the running. The Gambian spent one season under Arne Slot while on loan at Feyenoord from Newcastle, scoring nine goals in 36 appearances, and the pair could be reunited at Kirkby.
Minteh’s goalscoring output has dipped in the Premier League, but is a considerably cheaper option than Diomande. The Seagulls brought him south from Tyneside for just £33m and are reportedly hoping to sell him on for double that fee.
Anthony Gordon might be a controversial choice among fans given his history as an Everton player, but he could be available for a bargain fee as Newcastle look to offload players and dodge a PSR breach. An impressive World Cup campaign might make him an even more attractive target.

Elsewhere on the shortlist is Hoffenheim playmaker Bazoumana Toure, who has caught the eye after tallying 11 Bundesliga assists this season. Francisco Conceicao of Juventus is also considered an option and has been monitored by Liverpool scouts.
Completing the lineup of options are Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola and Real Madrid’s Rodrygo. The latter came close to leaving the Spanish capital last summer after being largely snubbed during the Club World Cup, but he has continued to disappoint in La Liga this season after deciding to stay.
Barcola, meanwhile, is a regular under Luis Enrique at PSG and seems an unrealistic option. He has scored 12 goals and assisted three in 34 appearances this season between Ligue 1 and the Champions League.
