The 22-year-old, who turns 23 on Saturday, has become the sixth signing of the January transfer window for Gareth Taylor’s side.

Liverpool sign Aurelie Csillag

Aurelie Csillag is the third forward Liverpool have signed this month, after Anna Josendal from Hammarby and Martha Thomas on loan from Tottenham.

Liverpool struggled for goals during the first-half of the season and was not helped by an ACL injury to Sophie Roman Haug.

Speaking to Liverpool’s official website, Csillag said: “For me, the [Barclays Women’s] Super League was always a dream.

“When I was a little child, I always wanted to play in the Super League. And then when I heard from Liverpool, it was a nice city, a nice club, a lot of tradition and history, I didn’t have any doubts about joining this winter.

“The training centre is amazing. I’ve never seen a training centre in a women’s club like this. I was very, very surprised and very happy that I could see this and join this.”

Who is Aurelie Csillag?

Csillag joins Liverpool just six months after joining SC Freiburg from Basel.

The 22-year-old struggled for starts at Freiburg, with just three starts in her 12 Frauen-Bundesliga appearances.

Despite this, she showed promise, scoring three goals and providing one assist.

During her time at Basel, she scored 16 goals in 43 appearances.

Csillag has also made 12 appearances for Switzerland, scoring her first goal in a friendly against Wales last month,

Who else have Liverpool signed this month?

Liverpool have been one of the busier clubs during the January transfer window, making six new additions to a squad that has yet to win a game in the WSL this season.

The Reds have signed Swedish goalkeeper Jennifer Falk on loan from BK Hacken, as well as midfielder Alice Bergstrom from the same team.

Denise O’Sullivan has joined from the North Carolina Courage, while Liverpool have also signed forwards Josendal and Thomas, the latter of which on loan.

Three of Liverpool’s summer signings scored in a 6-0 win over London Bees in the FA Cup at the weekend.

O’Sullivan opened the scoring, while Thomas and Bergstrom both scored braces for the Reds.

Midfielder O’Sullivan said she was “so proud” of Liverpool after the victory. The performance raises hopes that the Reds can enjoy a far stronger second-half to the campaign.
