One Liverpool star has shared an update on his horror injury. The player is now back in the gym on his road to recovery.

Liverpool haven't been at their best this season but they've also been very unfortunate with injuries. There can't really be any denying that.

Arne Slot has rarely been able to call on either right-back option, for one. Conor Bradley and Jeremie Frimpong have each suffered extended spells on the sidelines, forcing the likes of Dominik Szoboszlai and Curtis Jones to right-back.

Alisson Becker has spent time out, too, while Joe Gomez has struggled for fitness. Perhaps the worst of it happened last month when Alexander Isak, the most expensive signing in British history, fractured his leg.

Who knows when he'll be back?

But Isak isn't even the only long-term injury absence, nor is he the only one who may miss the rest of the season. That injury happened almost immediately - though, there has been an update.

Giovanni Leoni's injury woe

Giovanni Leoni arrived at Liverpool in the summer as one of the biggest teenage prospects in football. He'd burst onto the scene with Parma last season, establishing himself as a Serie A defender almost immediately.

The Reds paid a considerable amount of money to snap him up - but he last one match. Leoni was impressive on his debut, too, but he'd suffer a knee injury that rules him out for the campaign.

Fortunately, it sounds as though both his spirits and his rehab are positive. Leoni talked to Gazzetta Dello Sport about his comeback and all sounds good.

"I’m doing rehab, swimming, and the gym," he said, per TuttoMercatoWeb. "For a footballer, an injury like this can be the most difficult moment in their career, but now I just want to train my mind to come back stronger than before. I think that’s the key aspect: the mind can do most of the work.”
