Liverpool decided to splash the cash in the recently concluded summer transfer window as they managed to make some high-profile acquisitions, which will now make them the favourites to retain the Premier League title. Arne Slot was able to bring in Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong and Giovanni Leoni this summer.
Alexander Isak
Isak banged in 27 goals and grabbed six assists for Newcastle last season. Hence, it is no surprise that Liverpool decided to pay €145m to sign him on transfer deadline day.
If the Swedish talent can replicate his form from the previous campaign, the Merseyside club would be firm favourites to retain their top-flight crown.
Florian Wirtz
Wirtz had a great campaign at Bayer 04 Leverkusen last season when he put in a run of excellent displays for them in the Bundesliga. The Reds managed to secure his services for €125m earlier this summer.
The German international has made a slow start to his Liverpool career, picking up just one assist in four appearances for them so far. However, he is still settling into life in England and will be expected to showcase his true worth after this international break.

Hugo Ekitike
The French striker had a productive campaign at Eintracht Frankfurt last season, which earned him a move to Liverpool this summer. Ekitike has managed to get his career at the Merseyside club off to a good start after scoring two goals in three league appearances thus far. Following Isak’s arrival, a lot of the pressure will be off the Frenchman’s shoulders. Still, we can expect him to have a good campaign at Liverpool.
Milos Kerkez
Liverpool opted to sign Kerkez from Bournemouth for €46.90m earlier this summer. After a difficult start, he recovered well and put in a good display in the 1-0 win over Arsenal last weekend.
We can expect Kerkez to grow in confidence and make his mark on the left side of Arne Slot’s backline this season.
Jeremie Frimpong
Frimpong arrived from Leverkusen for €40m and made a great debut for the Reds as he scored the Community Shield final versus Crystal Palace. However, he has already missed a few games this season due to injury, but will be expected to play a major role for them in the coming months.
Giovanni Leoni
Leoni is still quite young and would need time to prove his worth at the Merseyside club. The jury is still out with this one.
Liverpool made five major acquisitions and managed to trim their squad by sanctioning the sales of Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, Jarell Quansah, Ben Doak and a few others. Based on the quality of their incoming acquisitions, the Reds had a dream summer and are now in a great position to compete for multiple trophies this season.
