Liverpool’s goalkeeping succession has not unfolded as Giorgi Mamardashvili envisaged, with Allisson Becker maintaining his level and remaining at Anfield. After a testing year featuring only stand-ins when Allisson was unavailable, the Georgian is weighing up a move to secure a bigger role.
According to Superdeporte, Andoni Iraola wants to keep both goalkeepers, a stance he set out in his press conference, yet English outlets reported on Sunday that Liverpool are open to hearing proposals for a loan for the former Valencia CF keeper.
The club are also keen to avoid his development stalling or his value declining, and with Allison as number one a loan is not viewed unfavourably if an offer suits all parties.
Any move is likely to hinge on key dominoes in the goalkeeper market, which could create a pathway into a major project for Mamardashvili.
At Valencia he proved himself one of the best equipped young goalkeepers around, and he has been a hero for Georgia.
