Liverpool face their first major test as reigning champions on Sunday as they welcome title rivals Arsenal to Anfield.
Arne Slot’s side are aiming to continue their perfect start to the season in a fixture that is historically packed with goals and drama. The Reds will also be looking to set a new club record for scoring in consecutive top-flight matches.
Arsenal also arrive on Merseyside with maximum points from their first two games. The Gunners are yet to concede this season, but have not won at Anfield since 2012.
Arne Slot has an almost fully-fit squad for the visit of the Gunners. The manager has been handed a major boost with the news that midfielder Alexis Mac Allister has returned to training after missing the win at Newcastle and is expected to be available.
The Reds’ only confirmed absentee is summer signing Jeremie Frimpong, who is sidelined with a hamstring injury. In his absence, Dominik Szoboszlai is the most likely candidate to start at right-back after impressing in the role at Newcastle. However, the recently returned Conor Bradley and Joe Gomez offer more natural alternatives.
Mohamed Salah, who has scored 11 career goals against Arsenal, will lead a potent and unchanged front four.
Liverpool predicted XI: Alisson; Szoboszlai, Konaté, van Dijk, Kerkez; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Wirtz, Gakpo; Ekitike.
The Premier League fixture takes place at Anfield on Sunday, 31st August 2025, with kick-off scheduled for 4:30 pm BST.
The match will be broadcast live on Sky Sports Main Event in the UK. Coverage begins at 4:00 pm BST.
