Liverpool will confirm their place in the Champions League’s last 16 if the Reds avoid defeat against Lille on Tuesday night.
Arne Slot’s side have a perfect record of six wins from six games in Europe this season and need just one point for automatic entry to the first knockout round. Liverpool are the only team with a 100% record in the competition and have conceded just once.
Lille arrive at Anfield having exceeded expectations in Europe this season. Currently eighth in the standings, the Ligue 1 outfit have beaten Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid in this season’s competition.
Bruno Génésio’s side are hoping to hold onto a place in the top eight and automatic progress to the last 16, ahead of their penultimate fixture against the Champions League leaders.
Arne Slot could hand several of his big names a rest with qualification all but assured. Darwin Nunez will hope for a chance from the start following the forward’s heroics at the weekend. Off the bench, he scored twice in stoppage time as Liverpool beat Brentford 2-0 in the Premier League.
Harvey Elliott and Federico Chiesa impressed in cameos and could come into the side, with Joe Gomez the only confirmed absentee. The defender is out until February.
Liverpool predicted XI: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Quansah, Van Dijk, Robertson; Endo, Jones, Elliott; Salah, Chiesa, Nunez.
Liverpool host Lille in the Champions League on Tuesday 21st January 2025. Kick-off at Anfield is 20:00 GMT.
The game will be broadcast on Amazon Prime Video.
