Liverpool’s record-breaking £450m spend last summer has seen them fall behind their rivals despite lifting the Premier League title last year.
The arrivals of world-class talents like Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz, alongside names like Hugo Ekitike, Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez and Giovanni Leoni, was supposed to see the Reds move further ahead of the chasing pack.
However, with the Reds sitting 6th in the Premier League table, it has been somewhat of a diastrous title defence by Arne Slot’s side.
Another busy summer is expected with numerous names already being linked with a move to Anfield.
One of those names is Eintracht Frankfurt defender Nathaniel Brown, who is expected to secure a big move this summer.

According to a report from Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany, Liverpool are keeping an eye on the 22-year-old defender.
“Liverpool watched Nathaniel Brown live in the stadium last Sunday during Eintracht Frankfurt’s 2-0 win against SC Freiburg,” stated Plettenberg.
“At the moment, however, nothing is concrete/advanced and there is no urgency, as Liverpool trust Milos Kerkez.”
Hungarian defender Kerkez only joined Liverpool in the summer for £40m from AFC Bournemouth. After a tough start to his Anfield career, the 22-year-old is starting to settle into his role quite nicely.
Nevertheless, Andy Robertson is set to leave Liverpool this summer, meaning there would be room for a new left-back.
Plettenberg also revealed the likely cost of any move for the German defender.
“Brown is allowed to leave SGE in the summer. Markus Krosche is demanding at least €60m,” said Plettenberg.
“The 22-year-old left-back is also on the shortlist of Real Madrid, while Barcelona and Manchester United are keeping an eye on the situation.”
With that in mind, it seems quite unlikely that Liverpool would spend that sort of money on full-back depth.
For now, I’d be surprised if this one ended up materialising, despite Liverpool’s clear interest.
