In 2014, when Trent Alexander-Arnold made an appearance against Real Madrid in the UEFA Youth League at just 16 years and 28 days old, it was an unprecedented feat.
Few would have envisaged the record being broken given Alexander-Arnold was so young, he was still only in Year 11 in school.
The club's former no.66 held the record for almost ten years until Ngumoha broke it last season making an appearance for Liverpool in the competition at 16 years and 19 days old.
Unlike Trent Alexander-Arnold though, Ngumoha's record did not hold out for as long.
Liverpool already have another special talent coming through in Joshua Abe, who broke the record again on Tuesday night when he was introduced as a substitute in the knock-out round game against MSK Zilina.
Abe was just 15 years, six months and 17 days old setting an incredible record and beating Ngumoha by a total of six months and two days.
That's quite an achievement and it speaks volumes of the youngster's talent. The week previously, Abe trained with the first-team and followed that up with a brace for the U18s in the U18 Premier League.
He has six goal contributions in seven games for Liverpool at that level.
Obviously, there's a lot of speculation about his future. Abe's contract expires at the end of the season and he is yet to sign a scholarship deal with the club, meaning he is free to join a rival.
Manchester City and Chelsea are both interested in him and could move to sign him.
Liverpool are clearly trying to show that there is a pathway for Abe at the club. Ultimately the decision rests in his hands. It would be a real shame to lose a player of his talent. But there is nothing else Liverpool can do.
